We, Wellhausen & Marquardt Mediengesellschaft bR, and our employees take the protection of your personal data very seriously and comply with the provisions of data protection laws. Personal data is collected on our websites only to the extent necessary for the respective purpose. Under no circumstances will the collected data be sold, and it will only be disclosed to third parties for necessary reasons (for example, to fulfill contracts for orders or subscriptions).

The following statement provides an overview of how we ensure this protection and what types of data are collected for what purposes.

Data Processing on Our Websites

If you use one of our websites solely for informational purposes—that is, if you do not register or otherwise provide us with information, such as via an order or contact form—we collect only the data that your browser transmits to our server. This includes

Cookies

Like many other websites, we also use so-called “cookies.” Cookies are small text files that are transferred from a website server to your hard drive. This allows us to automatically receive certain data, such as your IP address, the browser you are using, your operating system, and information about your computer and your internet connection. Cookies cannot be used to launch programs or transfer viruses to a computer. Based on the information contained in cookies, we can make navigation easier for you and ensure the correct display of our web pages. Under no circumstances will the data we collect be passed on to third parties or linked to personal data without your consent.

Of course, you can generally view our website without cookies. Internet browsers are typically set to accept cookies. You can disable the use of cookies at any time via your browser settings. Please use the help functions of your internet browser to learn how to change these settings. Please note that certain features of our website may not function if you have disabled the use of cookies. (am)

How We Share Personal Data

Under certain circumstances, we may share your personal data with third parties for the purpose of fulfilling a contract, for legitimate purposes, and for other reasons covered by this Privacy Policy. These circumstances may include:

– With vendors or other third parties who provide services on our behalf (e.g., IT management, payment processing, data analysis, customer support, newsletter marketing, cloud storage, order fulfillment, and shipping).

– With business and marketing partners to provide you with services and to market to you. Our business and marketing partners use your data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

– When you instruct us, request us, or otherwise give us your consent to share certain information with third parties, for example to send you products or through your use of social media widgets or login integrations, with your consent.

– With our subsidiaries or otherwise within our corporate group, in our legitimate interest to conduct a successful business.

– In connection with a business transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy, to comply with all applicable legal obligations (including responding to subpoenas, search warrants, and similar requests), to enforce all applicable terms of service, and to protect or defend the Services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.

When you register to use our personalized services, we collect certain personal data, such as your name, address, and contact and communication details, including your phone number and email address. Once you are registered with us, you can access content and services that we offer exclusively to registered users. Registered users also have the option to change or delete the data provided during registration at any time, if necessary. Of course, we will also provide you with information at any time regarding the personal data we have stored about you. SSL Encryption

To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption methods (e.g., SSL) via HTTPS. (am)

Contact Form

If you contact us via email or the contact form, the information you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing your inquiry and for any follow-up questions. (am)

Opening a Customer Account and/or Contract Processing

We collect and process personal data when you provide it to us for the purpose of executing a contract (for example, for an order) or when opening a customer account (for example, in our shop). The data collected is specified in the respective input forms. You can delete your customer account at any time; simply contact us at datenschutz@wm-medien.de. We store and use the data you provide for contract fulfillment as well as for our legitimate marketing interests. After the contract has been fully executed or your customer account has been deleted, your data will continue to be stored in accordance with tax and commercial law retention periods; however, at your request, and provided that tax and commercial law retention periods permit it, it will be blocked for further use or deleted, unless you have expressly consented to further use of your data or we have reserved the right to further use your data as permitted by law.

Data Processing for Direct Marketing

Advertising by Mail
Based on our legitimate interest in personalized direct marketing, we reserve the right to store your first and last name, your mailing address, and—to the extent we have received this additional information from you within the scope of the contractual relationship—your title, academic degree, date of birth, and your professional, industry, or business designation, and to use this information to send you interesting offers and information about our products via regular mail. You may object to the storage and use of your data for this purpose at any time.

Data Processing for Order Processing

To process your order, we work with service providers and intermediary service providers who assist us, in whole or in part, in the execution of concluded contracts. Certain personal data is transmitted to these parties. The personal data we collect is passed on by the intermediary service provider (subscription and shop service) to the transport company responsible for delivery as part of contract fulfillment, to the extent necessary for the delivery of the goods. We pass on your payment data to the designated credit institution as part of the payment process, provided this is necessary for payment processing.

Google Analytics

Our websites use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (hereinafter: Google). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies,” which are text files stored on your computer that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie regarding your use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. However, due to the activation of IP anonymization on these websites, your IP address will be truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the United States and truncated there. On our behalf, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services related to website and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser settings accordingly; however, we would like to point out that in this case, you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: Browser add-on to disable Google Analytics.

In addition to or as an alternative to the browser add-on, you can prevent tracking by Google Analytics on our pages by clicking this link. This will install an opt-out cookie on your device. This will prevent Google Analytics from collecting data for this website and for this browser in the future, as long as the cookie remains installed in your browser. (am)

Google AdSense

Our website uses Google AdSense, an online advertising service provided by Google LLC (“Google”). Google AdSense uses cookies and web beacons. Web beacons allow information such as visitor traffic on the pages of this site to be analyzed. The information generated by cookies and web beacons regarding the use of this website (including the user’s IP address) and the delivery of ad formats is transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. This information may be shared by Google with its contractual partners.

You can object to this analysis by adjusting your browser settings accordingly, by disabling interest-based ads on Google at:

adssettings.google.com/authenticated

or by disabling interest-based ads from providers participating in the “About Ads” self-regulatory campaign at:

optout.aboutads.info/?c=2#!/

The processing carried out within the framework of Google AdSense is justified under Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in offering you interest-based advertising.

Further information on data protection and cookies for advertising on Google AdSense can be found in Google’s Privacy Policy, specifically at the following links: www.google.de/policies/privacy/partners/www.google.de/intl/de/policies/technologies/ads.

Use of Script Libraries (Google Web Fonts)

To display our content correctly and in a visually appealing manner across all browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries on this website, such as Google Web Fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/). Google Web Fonts are transferred to your browser’s cache to prevent multiple loading. If the browser does not support Google Web Fonts or blocks access, content will be displayed in a standard font.

Further information on data protection and cookies for advertising on Google AdSense can be found in Google’s Privacy Policy, specifically at the following links: www.google.de/policies/privacy/partners/www.google.de/intl/de/policies/technologies/ads.

Calling up script libraries or font libraries automatically establishes a connection to the library operator. In doing so, it is theoretically possible—though currently unclear whether and, if so, for what purposes—that operators of such libraries collect data.

Use of Google Maps

Our websites use the Google Maps API to visually display geographic information. When using Google Maps, Google also collects, processes, and uses data regarding visitors’ use of the map features. You can find more information about Google’s data processing in the Google Privacy Policy. There, you can also change your personal privacy settings in the Privacy Center.

Detailed instructions on managing your own data in connection with Google products can be found here.

YouTube Videos

We embed YouTube videos on some of our web pages. The operator of the corresponding plugins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page with the YouTube plugin, a connection is established to YouTube’s servers. In doing so, YouTube is informed which pages you visit. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can associate your browsing behavior with you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

When a YouTube video is played, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behavior.

If you have disabled the storage of cookies for the Google Ads program, you will not have to expect such cookies even when watching YouTube videos. However, YouTube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this, you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.

Further information on data protection at “YouTube” can be found in the provider’s privacy policy at: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/ (on)

Google AdWords

Our websites use Google Conversion Tracking. If you arrived at our website via an ad placed by Google, Google AdWords will set a cookie on your computer. The conversion tracking cookie is set when a user clicks on an ad placed by Google. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages on our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to that page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot therefore be tracked across the websites of AdWords customers.

The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted into conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users. If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can refuse the placement of the cookie required for this—for example, by using a browser setting that generally disables the automatic placement of cookies, or by configuring your browser to block cookies from the domain “googleleadservices.com.”

Please note that you must not delete the opt-out cookies as long as you do not wish to have your data tracked. If you have deleted all cookies in your browser, you must set the respective opt-out cookie again. (am)

DoubleClick

To display advertising banners on our websites, we use DoubleClick, a tool provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA.

With every activity, DoubleClick transmits data to the DoubleClick server. All data transmissions trigger a cookie request to your browser. If this request is accepted (automatically, depending on your browser settings), DoubleClick sets a cookie (see description above). The cookies do not contain any personal information. The use of DoubleClick cookies merely enables Google and its partner websites to display ads based on previous visits to our website or other websites on the Internet.

You can prevent our websites from setting a DoubleClick cookie via your browser settings. Additionally, cookies set by Google can be deleted at any time via your Internet browser settings.

Further information about DoubleClick and the applicable privacy policy of DoubleClick by Google can be found at https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/.

Google Remarketing

Our websites use the remarketing feature of Google Inc. This feature is used to present interest-based advertisements to website visitors within the Google advertising network. A so-called “cookie” (see description above) is stored in the website visitor’s browser, which makes it possible to recognize the visitor when they access websites that belong to Google’s advertising network. On these sites, the visitor may be presented with advertisements that relate to content the visitor has previously viewed on websites that use Google’s remarketing feature.

According to Google, no personal data is collected during this process. If you still do not wish to use Google’s remarketing feature, you can generally disable it by adjusting the relevant settings at http://www.google.com/settings/ads. Alternatively, you can disable the use of cookies for interest-based advertising through the Network Advertising Initiative by following the instructions at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp. (am)

Your Rights to Access, Correction, Blocking, Deletion, and Objection

You have the right to obtain information about your personal data stored by us at any time. You also have the right to correct, block, or—except for data storage required for business transactions—delete your personal data. Please contact us directly regarding this. You can find our contact information at the bottom of this page.

To ensure that data blocking can be implemented at any time, this data must be retained in a blocking file for verification purposes. You may also request the deletion of the data, provided there is no legal obligation to archive it. If such an obligation exists, we will block your data upon request. You may make changes or revoke your consent by notifying us accordingly, effective for the future. (am)

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to occasionally update this privacy policy to ensure it always complies with current legal requirements or to reflect changes to our services in the privacy policy, e.g., when introducing new services. The new privacy policy will then apply to your next visit. (am)
